We have our first baby chick hatched on our farm :O)

Broody the hen.....the name we gave her because she seems to stay that way.... well we decided to finally  give her a pile of eggs...

This was the result  :O).... we gave her polish hen eggs to sit on ...

Mad Hatter our polish rooster seems a lot more interested in the two Lace Wyandotte hens that live on that side of the pen with the polish hens than he is the polish girls LOL... I had noticed this but figured well he surely was .... ummm well seeing the polish girls too when I wasn't around.. Well a dozen eggs and lots of hard work by Broody...... this one lone chick is the result... There was another baby chick but long story short it never made it past the hatching process. Its easy to tell the polish hens eggs from the Lace Wyandottes as one is brown and one is white. ]

Broody the proud Mamma!

She is very protective of her baby.

As you can see this little polish fella (well it could be a boy or a girl I have no idea)  has the classic half a cotton ball on its head LOL like Polish chicks do. Broody is a excellent Mom.She is taking such good care of her little one.

She has a whole flock of other hens to deal with. She lets them know real quick to get back and leave her baby alone! Its been so fun to watch her and the chick!
