I am really pleased with my pumpkins this year. I planted one row and they have taken over that row and the row next to them that was empty and both walkways.
Its late afternoon so they are wilted in this picture a bit ..
I see lots canning pumpkin in my future :O) which means.. Pumpkin muffins, pumpkin chili, pumpkin pies, pumpkin smoothies, pumpkin leathers, pumpkin soup, the list goes on :O). We love pumpkin. Well I love pumpkin, honeyman likes pumpkin :O).
Honeyman has spent the day working so hard. He cleared behind the house. The cedars were almost grown into the back of the house. I have walked up on several snakes back there and it was getting scary back there... Now its back off the house and a person can walk back there easily and see!
Also our chicken pen is back there. So honeyman and a helper cut the trees back. Sunk some post in concrete. Put up some Tpost Put up new fencing so the girls have a large area to free range in during the day. They go in the pen at night due to predators.
I am going to decorate that wood frame where the gate is some how to make it look cute.. They were not done when I took these pictures. You can see the chicken pen in in this photo.
Oh my there is a big white dog saying rub my tummy Mom I really like that LOL.. Keeper is the best thing ever. We even got him in the shower last weekend for a bath! Took me all week of working with him with treats and no water to get him used to going into the shower LOL.. I would get him to walk in the shower with bribes and then give him a pretend dry shower massaging him.. I always let him leave the shower when he wanted to so he would feel good about coming back in later. I left the shower door open all week so if we were in the bathroom he could just roam in and out of the shower and check it out, and he did .. So then last Sunday honeyman and I got him in and gave him a real bath. Well I was in the shower with him and honeyman was in the door way lol helping from that side LOL ..Not enough room for two people and a big white dog in our small walk in shower LOL..He did so good! He has done very good over all since coming to live with us. He is a puppy and he does like to chew LOL. So I am trying to remember this! Its so easy to forget he is just a 9 month old puppy as big as he is LOL. He has already decided its his job to protect me. He isn't out of line with it and he does mind really well. But he will in a heart beat let someone know, hey thats my Mom and well I kinda like her so you need to remember that bucko LOL.
More work honeyman did today, built my raised beds for all my different kinds of mints with mole proofing in the bottom .. Keeper was on the job inspecting the work to make sure it was up to standard. He said it looked good to him. We have to get some dirt for the beds now. I seem to have a thing about buying mint, every time I see a kind I don't have it wounds up somehow in my basket and coming home with me.
I feel bad I couldn't be of much help today. I have a shoulder injury that I am trying to heal up. So I was told no lifting. No heavy pulling, No straining my arm and shoulder.
But I did can today! Tomatoes! I also got the dehydrator full of tomatoes as well. I did a batch of dried tomatoes a couple days ago and I was so tickled with them. They taste just like the sun dried tomatoes you buy at the store! I will for sure be doing more of these!
Then I also managed to place a seed order at Baker Creek Seeds today. One of the seeds I ordered is for a tomato that is suppose to be great for drying! Buying seeds, its a sickness I tell you! I know someone else who has this same illness but I am not naming any names...
Quack Quack nope not saying a word LOL...

I dry untold quarts of tomatoes every year. I take some that I crush up into pieces to keep by the stove to shake into things when I want a pop of flavor. I love having them around.
Pumpkin ravioli rocks
i think you and melodie feed off one another. :) you share the same obsessions. :)
i love keeper. glad your man got so much accomplished.
Keeper is turning into a fine Ranch Manager.
The pumpkins look fabulous! Your pumpkin cook list sounds yummy, but I think I draw the line at a pumpkin smoothie!
I love pumpkin seeds! Do you? So glad to hear Keeper is doing well. Freckles is making beautiful progress with the professional trainer I hired. I was worried there for a bit, since she turned out to be fear aggressive -most likely due to her unknown background, but now I see she is going to be just fine, and I am so happy! Happy 4th!
the pumpkins are so pretty, even the vines look good.
i love pumpkins too, muffins, bread, and pies. I have not done much else.
I have thought of bathing Molly in the shower and payed close attention to your plan. i may try it one day. RV showers are small too.
wishing you a wonderful week.
Your pumpkins look so great! I'm really depressed about our garden. Squash bugs have killed every last zucchini/summersquash/cucumber plant. I've tried everything. Cayenne. Vinegar. Even Sevin. NOTHING is working :-(
Texan,
I love your pumpkins, they look amazing. I'm coming to your house for pumpkins, lol
Honeyman is doing a mighty fine job with the fenced in area, clearing the trees in the back and completing your above ground garden boxes. Will you be planting more than mint in the boxes? The pup is so adorable, and sounds like he thrives to learn new things. It's great that you were able to get him to like the shower, most dogs hesitate. I hope your shoulder heals soon. Having to limit your activity just puts a burden on your plans. Have a great day and don't work to hard.
bugger all growing here! too too wet!!!
Pumpkins looks awesome in these pictures...I'm sure you will enjoy your days with Pumpkins.
First time visiting your blog, very much impressed with colorful pages. Started following your blog !!!
Invite you to my pages and follow mine :)
Just stumbled across your blog... I'm in central Texas and thought I'd done something horribly wrong to end up with ripe pumpkins in JULY! Glad to see I'm not the only one, haha. And your new Pyrenees is lovely! They are wonderful guard dogs and very, very sweet. Just beware that they dig ENORMOUS holes!
Whew! I am nothing but a lazy slob!! lol I better get my ass in gear after reading this post!
What a beautiful dog Keeper is! Isn't it great to have a dog that 'protects' and keeps an eye on you?!
Those tomatoes sound lovely!
Jim
I just went back and read all about your dog. He will be a great protector for all of you and yours. That's so great that you adopted him. I am so impresses by all the hard work you guys are doing. It is looking great at your place and good to be able to see any snakes as well.
Oh my, your pumpkin patch is looking absolutely terrific!! We all just adore pumpkins in my household... I am envious. You are a fantastic gardener!
Your pumpkins are looking great! We haven't had much success with those. I love poring over the Baker Creek catalog. We've grown some exotic looking squashes from their seeds. Very fun.
It looks like you've been very busy! I am hoping to get enough tomatoes to can yet this year.
I didn't realize pumpkins were that big already. I mean I figured they'd be about the size of a baseball until September. They look great.
